this is so helpful, such a great and realistic guideline. but it also gives me lots of hope! i’m so ready to access parts of my brain and feel more present again.
Thanks for posting this. It really resonates with me. I even checked out that subreddit you mentioned, and its WILD.
I want to leave one of my most recent posts here, not just to shamelessly promote my work, but because I think it is very relevant to your essay. It’s about the importance of boredom from the perspective of a circus artist. If you end up giving it a read, I’d love your thoughts on it. Always happy to have a discussion. If not, that’s totally fine. Thanks and have a great day.
Oh no I haven’t… I’ve heard it’s scary though! There’s apparently also this really quiet room somewhere in a big tech HQ where it’s so quiet u can hear the rush of your own blood
Oh I’ve seen something about that. Sounds unsettling . The deprivation tank is a little scary till you get used to it. It takes me like 15 minutes to convince myself there are no mind-snakes in the tank with me. But after that you drift into parts of yourself you didn’t know about before. And learning to access it unlocked something in me.
Thank you for such an insightful article!
thank YOU for stopping by!

So glad!!! kind of wild how it’s so easy to just physically sit and stare at a wall but also mentally so incredibly daunting

Have you ever spent time in a “sensory deprivation tank?” Talk about being alone with your thoughts..
